It is with great sadness that DATV announces the upcoming retirement of Volunteer Coordinator Dorothy Beatty. Dorothy’s last day of service will be April 2nd, 2010. Dorothy has been with DATV for over 20 years and has previously served as its Program Director. A reception will be held on Friday, March 26th, from 5:00 – 8:00pm, in the DATV Studio, DATV members are invited to come and wish Dorothy well in her retirement.
“For over 20 years Dorothy walked into work every day and greeted us with a smile and a “good morning everyone.” Not only was she the Volunteer Coordinator, but Dorothy was and is a good friend to staff and members alike,” said Steve Ross, DATV Executive Director. “I can’t tell you how many times I saw Dorothy counsel, and console people during the tough times in their lives. Folks would come into DATV, just to talk with Dorothy about what was going on in their lives. I think that alone speaks volumes about the person Dorothy is and what people think of her.”
Dorothy began her association with DATV as a volunteer and producer in 1986 and was hired by then DATV Executive Director and founder Roxie Cole in 1989. Cole saw in Dorothy the potential for her to help spread her passion for DATV (then Access-30-Dayton) to other members.
